About Jennifer Dozier, Author & Founder of Helping Kids Cope

With both an undergraduate degree in psychology and a masters in counseling, Jennifer has thrived as a professional therapist since 1996. Working with patients as young as toddlers up to the elderly has given Jennifer a chance to use her talents in a wide variety of situations. Her greatest joy is seeing the success that each individual can make through counseling efforts.

"In counseling, you have to be able to effectively tackle and discuss topics that are serious. I have been blessed to work with some wonderful mentors. They have taught me a lot about the importance of counseling in an informal setting."

Jennifer quickly learned how the right book could really help her patients.

"I would search for tools to help my client and couldn't always find picture books for children discussing tough topics like death. I also feel that many parents, including myself, need to be better prepared for the tough questions that inevitably come up. It's always good to either have answers to their questions or at least know how to find the information. I hope these picture books will help children understand dying and feel more comfortable discussing these topics."
